RColorful Corners Paints a Tree of Knowledge

A brand new mural now graces the streets of a NE Rochester neighborhood. The Tree of Knowledge street mural was finaly painted after a month of sweltering humidity and storms that caused the paint date to be postponed several times until August 14. Thankfully neighbors and volunteers alike braved the heat throughout the day and brought this mural to life. National Night Out 2010

National Night Out, a nation- wide annual event, took place this year on Tuesday, August 3. Around 40,000 people signed up to participate in this year’s neighborhood parties, breaking Rochester’s goal of 30,000. This year’s record setting Night Out took place in neighborhoods all across Rochester. This event is organized by Crime Prevention of the Police Department. New Energy Program Coming to Rochester

Rochester Public Utilities and Minnesota Energy Resources have teamed up with the Center for Energy and Environment to offer Rochester homeowners Neighborhood Energy Challenge, which is part of the new full-service residential energy program, Conserve and Save. 2010 Fall RNeighborWoods Tree Grant

Trees make good neighbors. Since its creation in 2004, the grassroots RNeighborWoods program has organized 1,965 volunteers to plant 2,239 trees on Rochester boulevards. These trees provide multiple ecological and other public benefits including reducing Rochester’s carbon footprint. Big Party Downtown

This September 10th the Shops at University Square will be the site of a big party for local youth organizations! Three Rochester ogranizations have teamed up and pooled their resources to jointly recruit 100 aditional mentors to give one on one guidance to youth who face a myriad of challenges. Consider it Chalked

Before the grills across Rochester started cooking up hamburgers and hotdogs, 2010’s National Night Out (NNO) celebration started off early in neighborhoods on Tuesday, August 3. RNeighbors partnered with youth from Community Ed’s Summer of Service (SOS) program, the JOY (Juneteenth) kids, and Crime Prevention to work with neighborhoods to “Chalk the Block“.
