Rochester Public Utilities (RPU) is a NeighborWoods in Rochester founding partner. They work hard to ensure that tree limbs do not come in contact with electric power lines, which can cause power outages, property damage and fires.

To prevent outages, RPU employs full-time tree trimmers and contractors to keep trees trimmed around power lines. They practice directional pruning, which is an accepted industry standard and the preferred way to prune trees near power lines for their health, safety and longevity.

To get additional information about tree trimming and power lines or to read about ideal locations to plant trees that will maximize your home’s energy efficiency please check the RPU website.
