On Sunday, August 26, 2007, from 5-11 pm, RNeighbors will be holding their first annual fundraising event to support important neighborhood projects, such as A Litter Bit Better campaign, RColorful Corners street mural project, and the RNeighborWoods tree plantings. RLuau will be a unique celebration, highlighting the citizen and government leaders who work tirelessly to strengthen Rochester neighborhoods.

The Sandtrap Sports Bar has generously donated space for our tropical evening, which will include festive food, live and silent auctions. The evening will kick off with Rochester Mayor Alumni and Hawaii native, Chuck Hazama, teaching hula lessons. Headlining for the evening is prominent and hysterical comedian Scott Hansen, five-time winner of the Minnesota Comedian of the Year award. We’ll also be treated to rockin’ tunes from the Smokin’ Coyotes. Big Mark Clark from Laser 101.7 will move the evening along as Emcee and Auctioneer.

We’re putting a new twist on the traditional Luau feast. Our food sponsors have been generous! Food will include wraps, fruit, and veggie spreads from Camille’s Sidewalk Cafe; Hawaiian pizza, Bunnies famous Coconut Cake from the Canadian Honker, and more. A cash bar will be available. The silent and a live auction will be filled with a creative and diverse selection of items ranging from signed sports jerseys, trips, and game tickets to hand-crafted items from our talented Rochester neighborhoods.

Funds raised will be used to supplement RNeighbors budget ($89,998 in 2006) allowing us to continue current programs as well as additional neighborhood projects. All of our work provides support for the growing population of Rochester and the increasing popularity of our community building programs.

A big RNeighbors thank you to sponsoring businesses, supporting us in our first RLuau. If you’re interested in sponsoring a portion of this event, check our RLuau Sponsorship Benefits.

Silent and live auction items are also being sought for the event.

The dress code is casual. Do you have a favorite Hawaiian shirt? This would be the perfect excuse to dig it out and dust it off for a fun-packed tropical evening.
