Weekly Green Fact

Planning to cook a big holiday dinner? Well even if it is on the smaller scale here are a few tips to have a “green” delicious meal.

Fruits and Vegetables:

If you have the option, try to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables over those that are packaged or canned (includes frozen).  During certain seasons the fresh choice will often cost less than your more processed option.  The amount of energy saved from buying fresh fruits and veggies could light a light bulb in New York city for three years.

Turkey (Poultry):

When you buy poultry, try to only purchase the amount that you and your family can consume.  As Americans we will through away an average of twelve pounds of bird a year.  If you do seem to have some extra food after your holiday dinner try mixing it up and create some new recipies to enjoy the leftovers and not feel as if you eating the same thing every day.

Thanks and have a wonderful holiday!
