What is Biomass?

Biomass is biological material derived from living or recently living organisms, such as wood, waste, and alcohol fuels.  Biomass is most commonly plant matter such as corn based ethanol, switch grass or sugarcane based ethanol that is grown and produced to generate electricity or heat.
