1st Annual Graham Park Legacy Festival
On behalf of the Friends of Graham Park Board of Directors, we would like to personally invite you to our first annual Graham Park Legacy Festival which will be held on May 21st, 2011 from 1:00-7:00pm. This event occurs after more than two years of responding to the hopes and desires of the public, stakeholders, and elected officials to transform an overlooked opportunity into a unique community amenity.
This free festival will offer fun for the entire family in the hopes of raising awareness of the site and its potential. This year’s theme, Experience the Vision, will attempt to shed light on areas of the Park previously closed to the public, and utilize spaces and buildings in new ways. There will be a stage with music throughout the afternoon provided by the Rochester Arts Council and free locally raised beef burgers provided by 4H of Olmsted County.
The site will be teeming with sites and attractions that are meant to inspire, activate, and educate. Special guest vendors and exhibitors include the Rochester Downtown Farmer’s Market, Whiting’s Nursery, Family Tree Nursery, Master Gardeners, Horses and Heroes, and many more. In addition, there will be presentations on water conservation and energy efficiency plus walking tours of the historic structures and a children’s storytelling session. Elsewhere on the 55-acre property will be House of Bounce attractions for kids as well as youth hockey and youth soccer matches for participants to enjoy.
We hope you will join us in kicking off summer with a fun filled afternoon as you will also have a chance to participate in the many citizen-input listening stations located throughout Graham Park. There is no price for admission or parking but cash or check donations can be made at the Friends of Graham Park booth. Sponsors include Canadian Honker Restaurant and Cumulus Rochester.
