Adding Some Color to Rochester Neighborhoods

Adding Some Color to Rochester Neighborhoods

2010 RColorful Corners Street Mural Schedule

HSW Mural Group

Photo: The Historic Southwest neighborhood first painted their “Funky Flower” street mural in 2008. Each year the join together to repaint this public art project that brightens up their neighborhood.

RColorful Corners is a grassroots project that works to bring neighbors together to create colorful street murals.  We transform public space into neighborhood assets, while creating stronger relationships between neighbors.

This project is a way for neighbors to gather once a year and work side-by-side in a fun activity, creating a common gathering space. Organized by RNeighbors, this project was spearheaded by neighborhood associations, and works with community organizations, schools and neighbors to fulfill its vision.  More history on RColorful Corners can be found at our web site.

This summer four existing murals will be repainted and we’ll welcome one new mural addition near the site of the Multicultural Learning Center. SMIF and Valspar have granted us the street paint for this task, now we just need the help of volunteers like you. Brushes and paint will be provided, just bring your willingness to meet someone new and add some color to a street. The locations and dates of paintings are listed below:
