2011-12 A Litter Bit Better Poster Contest

Fourth grade Rochester students can play an important part in the 6th Annual Help Make Rochester A Litter Bit Better! city-wide litter collection event. We are looking for artwork from fourth grade students that tell a story about littering.
One fourth grade winner will be selected from each participating school and will be awarded an A Litter Bit Better! T-shirt and letter of appreciation from the Mayor of Rochester. Each school winner will be invited to participate in the Rochesterfest Parade (Friday, June 22, 2012) to distribute litter collection bags wearing their T-shirts.
The winning entries from each school will be judged, and a grand prize winner will be determined. In addition to the T-shirt and Mayor’s letter, the grand prize winner will win a pizza party for their class – delivered by the Mayor! The class will learn about waste associated with food and be invited to participate in a waste-free lunch challenge by the City of Rochester. The grand prize winner’s teacher will receive a $100.00 gift certificate to Office Max! Additionally, if permission is granted by the parents of the winning student, a photo of the artist with their artwork will be posted on the A Litter Bit Better! web site and may appear in other print publications. Last but not least, the grand prize winning entry will be used to create “I will not litter” pledge cards that will be distributed to all of Rochester’s fourth graders this spring before the event.
Students must submit their entries using the attached entry form. They may use colored pencils, markers or crayons to make their drawing. Computer graphics are not allowed. If words are used in their drawing, they must be correctly spelled and legible.
