Beating Back the Beetle

Beating Back the Beetle

Adult EAB insectRochester has been selected in a two year community preparedness study by the University of Minnesota’s Department of Forest Resources in order to evaluate the impact that the invasive Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) will have on our community. The inventorying of trees helps determine the risk to our urban forest.

Rochester is one of six ecoregions selected for the project, which is performed by trained volunteers, due to the size of our community and our history of being a “solid volunteer community, especially when it comes to caring for trees.”

EAB has not yet been identified in Rochester but Tuesday June 8th will be the kick off of the volunteer inventory campaign. There will be a meeting at 4pm at Goose Egg Park NW.
