Chalk the Block 2023 Recap

Chalk the Block 2023 Recap

The city-wide Chalk the Block Festival on September 30 was held at Graham Park (Olmsted County Fairgrounds), the first year we’d held the event in one location instead of across the city.

The goal was for citizens to build a sense of community and enjoy artistic expression through poetry and sidewalk chalk murals with the theme of “Art is the highest form of hope” -Gerhard Richter.

Professional artists, poets, neighborhoods, schools, as well as community members of all talents and ages shared their chalk and poetry creativity at the event. It was a hot day at 93 degrees! Professional artists were paid and other artists were eligible for awards.

If you had a part in making this colorful community-building event a reality and a success – we thank you!
