Chalk the Block 2023

Help us brighten up pavement with some creative chalk art and poetry. Bring your family, friends, and neighbors for a chance to connect over colorful art, interactive poetry, and local music. Free to attend. No pets please.

Our goal is for citizens to build a sense of community and enjoy artistic expression through poetry and sidewalk chalk murals with the theme of “Art is the highest form of hope” -Gerhard Richter. Professional artists, neighborhoods, schools, as well as community members of all talents and ages are welcome to chalk at the event. Professional artists will be paid, other artists are eligible for awards.

• Artist Registration: Interested in being an artist or participating as a group of artists? Don’t worry if you’re not a pro, all are welcome to chalk. Fill out the registration for a guaranteed space.
• Poem Submission: Whether you’re a novice or established writer, send us your work. Submission deadline is Friday, September 15. Guidelines and submission info here.
• Resource Table Registration: Would you like to have information about your organization and community resources? Here’s the sign-up form.
• Volunteer Signup: If you’re looking for a way to be involved we’d love help on the day of. Here’s the online sign-up.

Bring your family and neighbors to walk through the artwork and vote on your favorites. There will be opportunities for all ages to be involved including:
