Electrical Hazard Awareness Program (EHAP)

Electricity is a serious and widespread hazard to the arborist. Electricity causes about 30 percent of the fatalities in the tree care industry, making it the leading cause of worker fatality. Furthermore, almost all arborists in the field have at least some exposure to this hazard.

Join us on the day following the Winter 2012 Rochester Arborist Workshop, for Electrical Hazard Awareness Program (EHAP). This workshop certification helps you fulfill OSHA safety requirements for working near utility lines.

$170 for New Certification (don’t currently have a valid EHAP Certificate)

Dr. Ball is a perennial Minnesota arboricultural favorite. He has authored over 120 articles concerning arborist safety, pruning, plant health care and diagnostics to name only a few. Dr. Ball has been around the world speaking about a huge variety of arboricultural related topics.

  • Most common incidents that occur due to contact with an electrical conductors and from this starting point, work back to show what workers need to know to avoid these mistakes.
  • Hazard recognition, identification of voltage of common electrical hardware and safe approach distances, hazard avoidance, how to safely work in the vicinity of conductors whether the worker is a  groundworker, feller, climber or lift operator.
  • How workers should response to non-fatal injuries from contact with a conductor.
