Are you a landlord?

The October 31, 2011 deadline is approaching for rental property owners to comply with a new Rochester City Ordinance 38.125, which requires them to complete either a Crime Free class or Public Safety Seminar. The ordinance applies to all persons that own and rent property in Rochester. If your property is not currently licensed, please come into our office at 2122 Campus Drive SE to complete an application and schedule a required inspection to ensure the property is safe for your tenants to occupy.

There are currently two options available: attend a class scheduled for October 15, 2011 or individually complete a take home DVD seminar and test. Fee for either seminar or DVD option is $35.00.

Class registration for the October 15 seminar may be arranged through Mr. Darrel Hildebrandt at 328-6890 or via email. He will begin taking reservations after September 6.

DVD sets are available to check out for a two week period at the Building Safety office Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5p.m.
