Lions Avenues of Flags
The Rochester Host Lions Club is now offering individuals in selected neighborhoods in the City of Rochester an opportunity to show their pride and patriotism by displaying the American Flag in front of their homes on five national holidays per year: Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Veteran’s Day.
These flags will be purchased and the poles attached and assembled by Lions’ members. Subscription donations will be sold by our members at a cost $40 each year. Subscribe here!
For each charitable subscription donation, the Rochester Host Lions Club volunteers will place a 3′ by 5′ American flag on a 10 foot pole in front of the home on the five holidays listed above.
The subscription for this service and these funds will allow the Rochester Host Lions Club to provide services and good will inlcuding:
- Cornea transplants for the blind through the Lions Eye Bank
- Cochlear implants for the hearing impaired
- Islet cell transplant research for curing diabetes
- Summer camps for the handicapped at Camp Winnebago
- Rochester Pre School Vision Screening by Lions who are certified screeners
- Support for the Rochester Boys and Girls Club
- Used eye glasses for vision clinics in poverty countries
- Support for local youth sports teams
- Free eye exams for needy in the community
- Leader dogs for the blind
- Service dogs for the handicapped
- Ring bells for the Salvation Army
- Support local projects at Quarry Hill, Senior Center, Silver Lake handicapped accessible playground, etc
