Trail along East Circle Drive, connecting CSAH 2 (Viola Road) to TH14
This Rochester Trail project will provide connecting access from the trail on Viola Road NE to the trail at Trunk Highway 14 and East Circle Drive SE (see Trail Map). Construction is scheduled to begin in 2014. Numerous Rochester facilities will be served by this trail extension. Educational facilities that will be connected are Century High School at the north end of the trail and University Center Rochester (Rochester Community Technical College) on the south end of the trail and the Fieldhouse. Linked along this route are the Quarry Hill Nature Center, Rochester Youth Baseball and Soccer Complex, Regional Stadium, and Olmsted County. Interconnection will also be made with existing trails in the Rochester Trail System along the way. These include a connection into the Quarry Hill trail network, and the trail system at the Rochester Youth Sports Complex and UCR. The southerly end of this project will connect up with a trail that crosses Highway 14 at East Circle Drive SE. Trail uses of this new section with be in accord with the existing 85+ miles of trails in the Rochester Trail System, that are available for pedestrian, bike, in-line skate, wheelchair, and stroller use.
