Presenter’s Bio

In the mid 1970’s, I had the opportunity to paint several wall murals for the Department of Natural Resources in visitor centers throughout Southern Minnesota State Parks. I also spent a short period working as a graphic artist for the DNR before being hired by “Ads and Art,” an ad agency in Rochester. I worked there for 15 years doing graphic design and illustration. Since the early 1990’s I have worked as a freelance illustrator, graphic designer and muralist. In 1999 I painted the first outdoor wall mural in Rochester, the large radio on what used to be the KROC radio building. This was the true start of my career as a muralist and it became my true passion as an artist. I love the challenge of working on large scale murals and enjoy being outdoors. I am proud to be a part of an art form that is enjoyed by the public and visually enhances our community. In 2014 I was the recipient of the “Mayors Award for Public Art.” I also have experience working with students as well as the general public on art projects. I have assisted neighborhood groups with their street paintings through RNeighbors.

Beyond my career as an artist, I am an avid cyclist and cross-country skier. I have done many long-distance bicycle trips throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. I find cycling to be the perfect way to explore highways, towns and landscapes of these great states. It also has the added benefit of keeping me in good shape physically for the rigors of climbing scaffolding, ladders and handling the physical demands of working on large murals.
